Dear Marianne,
You will be missed very much. You have always been a kind and loving aunt to me. I have wonderful memories with you, laughing our heads off at Ascot or in Normandy. You were always so classy and such great company. I love you very much and you will never be forgotten, Rest in Peace, Love Joann

Each of us have different memories of our big sister, mine starting when trailing behind her to school in Gregson Lane, Mow rescuing me on a few occasions. Your hospitalilty to us all over the years. Family holidays at Jones's farm, Sandy beach, Anglesea, such glorious freedom. I admired your ability to look elegant and create the beautiful spaces in the many houses you lived in. Plus your eclectic humour and observations. The courage and tenacity you showed to keep on keeping on. Will miss you. Love Barbara

Dear Marianne,
You were in many ways my role model, effortlessly chic and glamorous with impeccable taste (as far as I was concerned!) and with an impressive artistic talent which you were always rather modest about. When I think about you my mind goes back to my first introduction to the Cole family one New Year’s Eve over 40 years ago – Nick had always spoken so glowingly about his eldest sister with two sons and husband Jeff, and I had in my mind someone rather more ‘Mumsy’ than this sophisticated figure before me. Over the weekend I managed to pass the ‘Jeff Test’ and we spent many family holidays together in Anglesey and various skiing locations – always a great laugh with many tales to recount afterwards.
Your wicked sense of humour was never far from the surface and I remember much giggling when sister Rosie and I went to stay with you in Alicante, Evian bottle of water filled with white wine by the swimming pool!
I also have particularly fond memories of our times spent in Majorca with you and Mike at the Hostel Dragonera, the little gem of a hotel which you in fact discovered and which we still enjoy, although it’s not quite the same without you. We always used to make a point of dressing for dinner where you, in your M&S numbers, always managed to look ten times better than me in my Parisian outfits!
I can’t really believe that I won’t see you again and will not be able to tell you what a big part you played in my life with Nick.
With the fondest of memories, sister in law Rosie.
Rosemary
